Cycle tour for new inhabitants (English)

14:30 - 17:30 Uhr
Verkehrszentrum
am 4. August 2018

Distance: 27 kilometers (17 miles) Duration: approximately 3 hours

Come and join us for a free guided bike tour. We will meet at the Verkehrszentrum an outpost of the Deutsches Museum (Museum for Science and Technology) focussing on traffic. From there we will cycle around the City Center of Munich. First we will take a short ride through the Westpark, continue through Sendling, once an independent village outside of City of Munich and now a cosy neighborhood. After easy cycling along the west bank of the Isar, we cross the Isar on a footbridge at the very popular "Flaucher". Passing the local zoo Tierpark Hellabrunn we will then climb the Eastern Ridge of the Isar canyon and continue along the ridge, passing the training grounds of the two major soccer clubs in Munich and the Grünwalder Stadion – up to the Olympic Summer Games in 1972 Munich's  biggest soccer-stadium. We will pass Giesing, a village founded 400 years prior to Munich and via Ostbahnhof will continue through Haidhausen and Bogenhausen untill we reach the English Garden. After a short stop at the Monopteros (Pagoda), the landmark of Munich's second largest beer-garden, we cycle through Schwabing, Maxvorstadt and Neuhausen before returning to the former Munich-fair located on Schwanthaler Höhe. There at the "Verkehrszentrum" we will finish our tour, right in front of another large beer garden.
